How it works

Powerball draws take place every Thursday at 21:30 AEST/AEDT. Players select seven numbers from a pool of 1 to 35, plus one Powerball number from a separate set of 1 to 20. The draw uses two physical barrel machines—one for the main numbers and one for the Powerball.

To win Division 1, all seven main numbers plus the Powerball must match the draw. Lower divisions require fewer matching numbers in various combinations with or without the Powerball. The minimum guaranteed top prize is A$3,000,000, though jackpots can roll over if there is no Division 1 winner. Full rules and prize breakdowns are published by the operator at thelott.com/powerball.

Odds and divisions

The odds of winning Division 1 are 1 in 134,490,400. To put that in perspective, you would be roughly as likely to flip a coin and land heads 27 times in a row. These odds reflect the total number of possible combinations when choosing seven numbers from 35 and one Powerball from 20. Lower divisions have better odds because they require fewer matching numbers, but official prize tables and odds for all divisions are maintained by the licensed operator.

If you win

All prize claims are handled directly by the game operator, not by Drawsguide. If you hold a winning ticket, follow the claim instructions provided by the retailer or online platform where you purchased your entry. For higher-value prizes, you may need to complete verification and provide identification. Drawsguide does not process claims, hold funds, or act as an intermediary. We publish information only.
