How it works

Instant Scratch-Its are physical scratch cards sold at The Lott retail outlets across Victoria. You buy a card over the counter, scratch off the panel, and discover immediately whether you've won. No draw schedule exists because the outcome is pre-determined when the card is printed.

The range includes dozens of themed games, each with its own prize structure and price point. Some cards cost a dollar; others sell for twenty. The top prize and overall odds vary by game, so read the fine print on the back of each card before you buy. The Lott rotates titles regularly, retiring older games and launching new ones throughout the year.

Odds and divisions

We do not have a single set of division-1 odds for Instant Scratch-Its because each game carries different probabilities. The odds are printed on the reverse of every card, typically expressed as "overall odds of winning a prize" rather than top-prize odds alone. Some games offer one-in-three overall odds; others sit closer to one-in-four. Those figures mean that, on average, one in every three or four cards pays out something—though most wins will be small amounts that barely cover the card's purchase price. Always check the specific game's published odds before you scratch.

If you win

Small prizes can be claimed immediately at the retailer where you bought the card, subject to the outlet's cash float. Larger wins require validation at a Lott outlet or by post. Payments are handled by the licensed operator, not by us. We are an editorial site; we publish lottery information but hold no licence to sell tickets or process claims. Keep your card intact, sign the back, and follow the redemption instructions printed on it. Prizes in Victoria expire twelve months from the game's official close date, so act promptly.
